Simon Williams is your Conservative spokesman for Upton East and a candidate in the Purbeck District Elections on May 1, 2008. Below, Simon introduces himself:

You may be aware there will be an election on May 1st to elect a representative for Lytchett Minster and Upton East. I am writing to introduce myself as the Conservative candidate and to ask for your support in the forthcoming poll.
I am actively involved in our local community, I am Vice Chairman of the Upton Heath Regeneration Scheme and Funding Co-ordinator for the Grove Youth Club. I also act as a local representative on the new Partners and Communities Together Panel.
My active involvement in local community matters continues to grow and I now seek your mandate to serve that community at a higher level. I feel that Upton East is undervalued and neglected by those who administer us and I seek to re-dress that imbalance by providing a strong voice in the Council Chamber on behalf of Upton’s residents.
For Upton, I will:
- continue to oppose the Western Expansion plan and over-development
- fight for a better share of Purbeck’s resources
- strive to ensure better facilities for our youngsters
- campaign for an independent review of Council Tax on the elderly
- closely monitor the changes in Policing levels and take action if the public feels that there is a degeneration in the service level
- encourage closer community co-operation
For Purbeck, I will:
- seek continued improvements to our recycling efforts
- hold council officials to account on how they spend your money
- oppose excessive Council Tax increases
- support local Community Action plans
- press for improved road infrastructure
Every vote in this election will count and I sincerely hope that you are willing to choose a candidate who pledges to be vigorous and active locally all year, every year.
